RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial In User Service) Support For Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP)
نویسندگان
چکیده
This document defines Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) support for the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP), an authentication framework which supports multiple authentication mechanisms. In the proposed scheme, the Network Access Server (NAS) forwards EAP packets to and from the RADIUS server, encapsulated within EAP-Message attributes. This has the advantage of allowing the NAS to support any EAP authentication method, without the need for method-specific code, which resides on the RADIUS server. While EAP was originally developed for use with PPP, it is now also in use with IEEE 802. This document updates RFC 2869. Aboba & Calhoun Informational [Page 1] RFC 3579 RADIUS & EAP September 2003

Fast Re-authentication for Handovers in Wireless Communication Networks
The evolution of wireless access technologies and the capabilities of today’s mobile devices lead to an increasing demand of communication bandwidth. More and more packet-switched wireless access networks like Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) and networks based on Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) are publicly available and operated by different providers. In order to ...
متن کاملA Simple Key Distribution Method for IEEE 802.11 Encryption Keys
This article proposes a simple key management protocol for the distribution of shared session keys in IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs. For this purpose an individual key for each user is stored in a central key management server, that regularly broadcasts key management frames which contain the shared session key encrypted individually for every user via all attached base stations of the key manageme...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol
The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has proposed new protocols for highly secured wireless networking. The purpose of this paper is to implement one such proposed security protocol PEAP (Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol) [1]. PEAP was jointly developed by Microsoft, Cisco and RSA security. The protocol implementation is done on the server end of a Client/Server network model ...

متن کاملDynamic Authorization Extensions to Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS)
This document describes a currently deployed extension to the Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) protocol, allowing dynamic changes to a user session, as implemented by network access server products. This includes support for disconnecting users and changing authorizations applicable to a user session. Chiba, et al. Informational [Page 1] RFC 3576 Dynamic Authorization Extensi...
